Say hello to Sarawak’s most wanted delicacy ever, behold
your tummy for the best dish they will ever had, the Sarawak Laksa (Laksa
Sarawak). It is essentially vermicelli rice noodles ( bee hoon ), cooked in a
shrimp-based broth that is made thicken with coconut milk.
This is a kind of
dish where you can enjoy both protein and carbohydrate diet which may also
fattening due to its plant based sourced of coconut milk. This dish is served
with generous amounts of crunchy bean sprouts, a few boiled prawns and
garnished with shredded chicken and slivers of egg omelette.
For added spice,
there’s the thick sambal paste that is usually served on the side. The paste is
quite hot, spicy and doesn’t really tolerate with novices’ tongues but please
my dear don’t fear because without it’s sambal, the laksa itself would probably
tastes pretty much plain and blanch.
Don’t forget to add the twist of lime
juice as well and this will probably make you hungry for more once you’ve
tasted it. Well, it is up to you whether to ‘spice’ it up or keeping it on the
safe level where you can enjoy this Sarawak’s most favorite food ever!
